The Paignton to Kingswear line provides steep gradients as the line climbs from sea level at Goodrington to Churston (197 feet above sea level) and then drops down to river level to the Dart at Kingswear. The Paignton to Dartmouth line is a steam operated commercial railway, describing itself as 'the nation's holiday line'.
